Biography
Mark Galipeau
The self-taught artist was born in 1967 in St. Jean Richelieu about 40 kilometers southeast of Montreal.
Marc has a bachelor’s degree in teaching with a specialty in ortho – pedagogy. He taught for seven years and then decided to get involved in computer arts, a field that brought him closer to visual arts.
Mark worked as a graphics designer and gave up his full time job in 2005 to devote himself to his art – acrylic and mixed - media paintings.
Galipeau has painted since he was a child and says he dreamed of becoming a full-time artist. His vivid works feature bold colours and flowing lines evoking dance and music. Some of his works illustrate people playing instruments such as the piano or fiddle.
Galipeau has had showings at several exhibitions and galleries around Quebec.
He displayed his works at the Exposition Provonce in France. He was among a group of artists on exhibit at the Louvre in Paris in December 2006.
